分别于1989、1992、1998年获得华东师范大学学士学位、电子科技大学硕士学位和电子科技大学博士学位。1992－1998年在电子科技大学留校工作。1998－2002年在新加坡南洋理工大学电子与电器工程学院任Research Fellow。2002－2005年以Research Scientist身份在新加坡国立大学淡玛锡实验室从事新型阵列天线方面的研究工作。2005年起任电子科技大学电子工程学院教授、电磁场与微波技术专业博士生导师。2011年获得国家杰出青年科学基金资助，2014年入选教育部国家级领军人才计划，2019年获评IEEE Fellow。

长期围绕新型天线或天线阵等相关方向中的关键技术进行深入研究，在四维天线阵、强耦合超宽带相控阵、透镜天线等方向提出了自己独具特色的研究思路和方法，取得了系列创新性成果并获重要工程应用。近年来承担了国家自然科学基金重点、973专题、重大专项课题、预研等国家级项目十余项。曾荣获国家技术发明三等奖、四川省科技进步一等奖各1项。发表论文300 余篇，其中国际天线与电磁领域顶刊IEEE Trans. Antennas Propagat. 论文120余篇。获授权发明专利60余项。曾先后荣获“全国优秀博士论文指导教师”、“四川省有突出贡献的优秀专家”、“四川省优秀教师”、“全国高校黄大年式教师团队”负责人等荣誉称号。现为IEEE Trans. Antennas Propagat. 副主编，以及Chinese J. Electron. 、Engineering等期刊编委。
