Personal Profile
Dr. Dunwen Wei is a joint-trained doctoral graduate from Northwestern Polytechnical University (China) and Cornell University (USA). He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Robotics Research Center at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). During 2023–2024, he worked as a visiting scholar in Italy under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Siciliano.
Dr. Wei is a member of the Robotics and Automation Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a senior member of the Chinese Association of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and a committee member of the Robotics Special Committee of the Sichuan Mechanical Engineering Society. He acts as a peer reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and serves as a reviewer for high-level journals in the robotics field both domestically and internationally.
His primary research interests include: flexible and soft actuators, bioinspired soft robots, mechanisms and control of bionic medical rehabilitation robots, intelligent decision-making and navigation for unmanned systems, and cutting-edge research integrating bioinspiration with robotic applications. In recent years, he has led or participated in multiple national-level projects, including the National 863 Program, JB pre-research projects, and NSFC grants, with 2 NSFC projects and 8 provincial/ministerial-level projects under his leadership. He has published over 30 academic papers in high-impact journals and conferences at home and abroad and holds more than 20 authorized national invention patents.
